Pa’s Poem

I Wish - Goodbye Derek
by Delphie Levy Jones
for pa
I wish for the wind to take me
a wicker bed bound in green shan’t rust
my bones to ashes, but let my spirit fly free
for I don’t wish to make much fuss
I wish for a wistful breeze
up the Kymin I’ll scatter and rest
the river and forest will cocoon me
as I sleep by my eternal nest
I wish for a simple tune
with nothing but a farewell from your lips
my old soul will linger, under sun and moon
for death is the mourner’s eclipse
I wish for you to know my plea
that my remains won’t turn to dust
for they exist so beautifully in your memories and genes
so for me, do not make much fuss
